TOTE BAGS THAT SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

Carry the cause—and a few groceries too—with our bold, sassy, and unapologetically civic-minded tote bags. Designed for changemakers, these bags channel the legacy of the suffragists with a modern voice that says: “Yes, I vote. And I make it look good.” A variety of sayings and sizes to meet your needs.

LWV-NPC recently held a Democracy Dialogues session on Property Taxes, Bond Issues and Levies. At the session, we discussed how these funding mechanics work, and why they matter for supporting public infrastructure. LWV-NPC also moderated a discussion with panelists: Portage County Auditor Matt Kelly, Portage County Treasurer John Kennedy, Aurora City Finance Director Tim Clymer and Aurora City School Superintendent Mike Roberto.

Our presentation slides can be accessed below for reviewing or following along on the live-stream

New Ohio Legislative District Maps

On September 26, 2023, the Ohio Redistricting Commission Approved new maps for Ohio Senate and House districts. The county is divided into two House districts, while it remains whole for Senate representation.

We are all equal at the ballot box,
but only if we vote.

From voter registration drives and local "Meet the Candidates" Nights, to printed Voter Guides and the LWV Vote 411 website, we believe that one of our most important functions is to encourage and help educate citizens to vote in fair elections.

We've compiled valuable information for everyone - whether first-time voters or those who never miss a vote.

LWV Northern Portage County

As a subset of the National League and the Ohio League, the Northern Portage County League of Women Voters advocates within the communities of Aurora, Freedom, Garrettsville, Hiram, Mantua, Nelson and Shalersville.

Each local League develops and comes to a consensus on positions within its community with which it takes action. The action taken may be in several forms, including letter writing, testifying at pubic hearings, serving on committees and/or commissions, and lobbying at local, state, or national levels for legislation.
